Nakaya

Nakaya is professional and focused on his duties aboard Flight 865. His characterization is limited because he spends most of his appearance in the cockpit alongside Okoshi.

He and the captain are acquainted with Juri Maki from her earlier work with the airline. Their friendly recognition of her when she visits the cockpit demonstrates that the relationship predates her acting career.

Nakaya is a qualified commercial airline co-pilot trained to operate the aircraft used for Flight 865. He works with Okoshi during the flight and is capable of handling the aircraft's cockpit systems as part of a professional flight crew.

No abilities beyond his aviation training are established. His importance to the latter half of the film comes from what happens when the flight suddenly loses both of its trained pilots.

Nakaya serves as co-pilot on the Sky Japan Airlines flight taking Juri Maki and her companions to Hakodate. Juri visits the cockpit during the journey and greets Nakaya and Okoshi, whom she knows from her own previous employment with the airline.

After Juri has already been poisoned through her makeup, her contact with the pilots transfers traces of cyanide to them. Both Nakaya and Okoshi subsequently suffer acute poisoning and lose consciousness, although the smaller dose is not fatal.

Their incapacitation leaves Flight 865 without a functioning professional flight crew. Conan and Kaitou Kid, who is disguised as Isao Shinjo, are consequently forced to take control of the aircraft and attempt an emergency landing.

Okoshi is Nakaya's captain and fellow pilot aboard Flight 865. Nakaya works directly under Okoshi in the cockpit.

Conan Edogawa enters the cockpit after the pilots become incapacitated and helps keep the aircraft under control.
