Menae

Menae is dutiful, inquisitive and somewhat shy. He usually acts together with Sherumi, and the twins quickly show curiosity about Riko's group and Reg in particular.

He can also be playful when circumstances allow. His interactions with Reg move quickly from cautious curiosity to teasing familiarity.

Certain subjects concerning his body provoke a much darker reaction. When Reg asks how he obtained his missing limbs, Menae refuses to remember the circumstances and warns that Reg's companions could eventually end up similarly damaged.

Menae has no natural arms or legs and uses Artifact prostheses, including Third Works for his legs. These artificial limbs give him functional mobility despite the extensive absence of his original extremities.

As one of Hail Hex's Snipers, he specializes in coordinated ranged combat with Sherumi. The twins are capable of acting together with remarkable precision.

They can enter a released combat state and perform combined attacks powerful enough to damage creatures encountered in the deepest known regions. Their Juusou physiology also interacts with White Whistle activation and other Abyssal phenomena in ways still being explored.

Menae appears with Sherumi among Hail Hex when Riko's group reaches the squad's Sixth Layer camp. He watches Reg's test against Nishagora and wonders whether Reg might resemble the kind of being the twins themselves are.

After the groups agree to cooperate, Menae and Sherumi accompany the joint expedition toward the Seventh Layer. Their bodies and origins become part of Srajo's explanation of Juusou—people born as Narehate within the Abyss.

Menae later reveals that the Relics sustaining the twins' bodies have a limited remaining duration, making their participation in the expedition increasingly urgent.

Sherumi is Menae's twin sister and combat partner. They operate together as Hail Hex's Snipers and rely heavily on one another.

Srajo is Menae's captain and commands the twins during expeditions and combat.

Nishagora is a fellow Hail Hex member whom Menae and Sherumi greet affectionately.

Reg fascinates Menae because of his artificial body and extendable limbs. The two become increasingly familiar during their shared expedition.

Nanachi protects the twins during an attack in the deeper Abyss, prompting Menae to express gratitude afterward.
