Marvin

Marvin is an aggressive member of Ingway's gang who participates willingly in an armed hostage operation. Unlike Ingway, whose personal motive eventually becomes central to the incident, Marvin is not given a detailed individual history or ideology.

His characterization is therefore primarily defined by his loyalty to the gang and willingness to use violence while carrying out Ingway's plan.

Marvin is an ordinary human and armed bandit. He has experience with firearms and participates in controlling the hostages alongside the other members of Ingway's group.

He possesses no established supernatural abilities, named techniques or unusual physical powers. His effectiveness comes from operating as part of an organized group of armed criminals.

Marvin appears during the kidnapping of Stefany Bostok, when Ingway's gang takes control of the saloon and forces the Bostok family to respond. Vash the Stampede, Meryl Stryfe and Milly Thompson become caught in the hostage situation in the anime.

The incident originates in Trigun's pilot chapter and was later adapted as episode 4. The manga pilot gives Marvin a harsher outcome than the television version, with Marvin being killed when he is struck by the getaway wagon during the mercenary attack.

Ingway is Marvin's gang leader and directs the operation against the Bostok family.

Gene and Denim are Marvin's fellow gang members during the hostage crisis.

Stefany Bostok is the principal hostage used by the gang to force her father into a confrontation.

Vash the Stampede becomes involved in the hostage crisis and repeatedly tries to prevent the confrontation from producing unnecessary deaths.
