Stefany Bostok

Stefany is cheerful, confident and somewhat naïve about the danger created by her family's wealth. Her skill at cards allows her to repeatedly win money from other players, and she is enthusiastic enough to keep looking for opponents after most of them give up.

That confidence initially carries into the hostage situation. She assumes her father's fortune makes any ransom demand easy to satisfy, underestimating the personal motives behind the kidnapping.

Her concern for her father becomes much clearer once the confrontation shifts from money to a direct gunfight.

Stefany is an ordinary human without established combat abilities or supernatural powers.

She is, however, an accomplished card player. Her introductory scene establishes that she can repeatedly defeat adult opponents and accumulate their money through gambling.

Her social position as Bostok's daughter also makes her valuable leverage against one of the region's wealthiest men.

Stefany's kidnapping drives the conflict of "Love & Peace." Ingway and his gang seize her and demand money and transportation, while Vash the Stampede, Meryl Stryfe and Milly Thompson become caught in the hostage situation.

The ransom is not Ingway's true objective. Stefany learns that her father acquired his wealth after his group seized cultivated land from earlier settlers and killed them, including Ingway's parents.

Ingway releases the hostages and challenges Bostok directly. The manga pilot has Ingway kill him, while the 1998 anime changes the outcome so that Ingway deliberately shoots Bostok nonfatally in the shoulder.

Dick Bostok is Stefany's father. She cares deeply about him despite initially knowing little about the violence connected to his past.

Ingway kidnaps Stefany as leverage against her father. He reveals that his real motive is revenge for Bostok's actions against Ingway's family and the original settlers.

Vash the Stampede accidentally becomes another hostage and repeatedly intervenes to prevent the situation from turning into a massacre.

Meryl Stryfe and Milly Thompson are likewise caught in the hostage crisis surrounding Stefany.
