Mabashi

Mabashi is vain, provocative and increasingly cruel. Before drinking the Bitto elixir, he openly questions Kariya and defends the old rule against consuming living Humans. Once empowered, he abandons those reservations and revels in controlling unwilling victims.

His confidence often becomes complacency. Mabashi prefers allowing Ritz and her hosts to fight on his behalf, underestimating opponents who conceal their true condition or strategy.

Like other Bounts, Mabashi absorbs souls and spiritual particles to sustain himself. Consuming the concentrated soul energy gathered by the Bitto sharply increases his strength but also leaves him craving more.

Ritz is sealed within the blue crystal worn at his neck. Once released, she enters a victim’s chest, possesses the body and accesses its physical or spiritual techniques. In Soul Society’s reishi-rich environment, Ritz can create numerous copies and control multiple hosts simultaneously.

Mabashi interrupts Yoshi’s fight with Rukia Kuchiki, Orihime Inoue and Kuroud. Ritz possesses Rukia, forcing Orihime to expel the Doll without seriously injuring her friend.

During the invasion of Soul Society, Mabashi uses Ritz to seize control of Onmitsukidō personnel and poisons Soi Fon. Soi Fon conceals her recovery, marks Mabashi twice in the same place with Suzumebachi and kills him. As his power fails, the Ritz copies turn upon him before his body crumbles away.

Jin Kariya is Mabashi’s leader and the Bount who forces him to consume concentrated living souls. Mabashi’s initial disagreement disappears as the new power changes his priorities.

Ritz is Mabashi’s Doll and the being whose safety provokes his strongest emotional reaction. Rukia Kuchiki becomes one of Ritz’s principal hosts, while Orihime Inoue drives the Doll from her. Soi Fon defeats Mabashi during the Soul Society invasion.
