Livio

Livio begins as a withdrawn and emotionally suppressed assassin. His training encourages him to set aside personal feelings and operate as efficiently as possible, sharply contrasting with the sensitive child Wolfwood remembers.

As a child he was nicknamed "Crybaby Livio." His vulnerability and desire for acceptance remain important beneath the hardened behavior produced by the Eye of Michael.

After breaking away from the organization, Livio gradually becomes warmer and more openly compassionate. He begins protecting others voluntarily and eventually allows himself to cry again rather than treating emotion as weakness.

Livio has undergone extensive enhancement through the Eye of Michael. His modifications grant exceptional strength, speed, durability, senses and accelerated healing.

His signature Double Fangs are two compact cross-shaped machine guns. Each can fire from both ends, allowing Livio to attack in opposite directions and exploit unusual firing angles while moving through close-range combat.

His regenerative ability is particularly powerful. He can recover from severe injuries without immediately relying on the restorative drug used by other Eye of Michael assassins, while additional doses can accelerate recovery from otherwise catastrophic wounds.

Livio also shares his body with Razlo, whose emergence brings a different fighting style and access to three Punisher weapons through an artificial third arm.

Livio enters Trigun Maximum as one of the Eye of Michael assassins brought into the Gung-Ho Guns. His appearance forces Wolfwood to confront someone from the orphanage he had hoped to protect by leaving.

Their conflict becomes one of the most personal battles in Wolfwood's storyline. Wolfwood eventually reaches Livio emotionally while fighting both Livio and Razlo, but the accumulated injuries and excessive regenerative drug use cost Wolfwood his life.

Rather than continuing as Knives's assassin, Livio accepts Vash's forgiveness and travels with him, attempting to live according to the second chance Wolfwood fought to give him. His later confrontation with Elendira becomes the major test of that new path.

Stampede restructures this material while retaining Livio's childhood bond with Wolfwood and his transformation by the Eye of Michael.

Nicholas D. Wolfwood grows up with Livio at the orphanage and acts as an older-brother figure to him. Their eventual battle ends with Livio regaining control of himself, but Wolfwood later dies from the injuries and regenerative-drug abuse accumulated during the fight.

Razlo the Tri-Punisher of Death is the alternate personality sharing Livio's body. Razlo is responsible for acts Livio does not initially understand, including killing a puppy during their childhood, and later becomes a formidable combatant in his own right.

Vash the Stampede confronts Livio during the conflict surrounding Wolfwood. After Wolfwood's death, Vash forgives Livio and accepts him as a companion rather than treating him as an enemy.

Chapel the Evergreen trains Livio through the Eye of Michael in the manga.

Elendira the Crimsonnail becomes one of Livio's most dangerous later opponents. After being nearly killed in their first encounter, Livio ultimately defeats her during their rematch.

Jasmine knew Livio at the orphanage and is connected to both one of his happiest childhood memories and one of the incidents that caused the other children to fear him.
