Personality
Personality
Kyouka is pragmatic, dryly sarcastic, observant, and somewhat reserved. She frequently responds to exaggerated behavior with teasing remarks and is especially quick to puncture the confidence of classmates who are showing off.
Her sarcasm masks a more self-conscious side. Although she is highly accomplished musically, she initially treats music as a private interest and becomes embarrassed when classmates discover how many instruments she can play.
Kyouka ultimately becomes more comfortable allowing both parts of herself to coexist. Heroism does not require abandoning the music she inherited from her parents, and the School Festival gives her an opportunity to use that talent directly for other people's happiness.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Earphone Jack gives Kyouka flexible headphone-jack appendages extending from her earlobes. Plugging them into walls, floors, or other objects lets her detect faint vibrations and sounds, making her an excellent reconnaissance specialist.
She can also channel the amplified sound of her heartbeat through the jacks, producing destructive vibration attacks. Her hero costume eventually incorporates amplifiers that increase the output and range of these attacks.
Training strengthens both her jacks and sensory precision. She can identify approaching enemies through environmental vibrations and combine sound attacks with allies who specialize in ranged or support combat.
Story Role
Story Role
Kyouka participates in the U.S.J. battle alongside Momo Yaoyorozu and Denki Kaminari, using her sensory ability to support their group.
Her musical background becomes central during the U.A. School Festival. When Class 1-A decides to hold a live performance, Kyouka organizes the musical side of the event and serves as lead vocalist and bassist.
During the Paranormal Liberation War, she works in the rear team confronting Gigantomachia and later helps bring Izuku back to U.A. when the class refuses to let him continue operating alone.
During the Final War, Kyouka fights All For One alongside Hawks and Tokoyami. Although severely injured, her sound-based attack and the emotional response of the Quirk factors within All For One contribute to destabilizing him.
Relationships
Relationships
Mika Jirou is Kyouka's mother and a musician whose Quirk she inherits.
Kyotoku Jirou is her father, a composer who supports her decision to pursue heroism rather than expecting her to follow his profession.
Momo Yaoyorozu is one of Kyouka's closest friends. They work together at the U.S.J., study together, shop together, and perform together during the School Festival.
Denki Kaminari frequently exchanges jokes and teasing with Kyouka. Their concern for one another becomes particularly apparent before and during major battles.
Hawks and Fumikage Tokoyami fight beside Kyouka against All For One during the Final War.
