Personality
Personality
Mika is kind, encouraging, calm, and supportive of her daughter's independence. She understands that deciding on a career is difficult and does not interpret Kyoka's interest in heroism as rejection of the family's musical background.
When Kyoka worries that choosing U.A. instead of becoming a musician will disappoint her parents, Mika assures her that helping people through hero work and reaching people through music are not mutually exclusive.
She is also the calmer parent during family arguments. When Kyotoku and Kyoka begin bickering during U.A.'s home visit, Mika quickly tells them both to settle down.
Her favorite musical genre is punk, fitting the household's broader enthusiasm for contemporary music.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Mika possesses Earphone Jack, the same Quirk inherited by Kyoka.
The Quirk gives her plug-like earphone jacks extending from her earlobes. Canon confirms the Quirk's identity but does not demonstrate Mika using it extensively enough to establish whether she developed the same combat applications as her daughter.
Mika has no known Pro Hero career. Her established expertise lies in music, where she is skilled enough that Kyotoku Jiro originally falls in love with her talent.
Story Role
Story Role
Mika's influence is first felt through Kyoka's musical skill, which comes from growing up in a household where both parents are professional musicians.
She appears directly during U.A.'s home visits after the forest training camp attack.
Shouta Aizawa and All Might ask permission for Kyoka to move into the newly established U.A. dormitories, intended to protect students from further villain attacks.
Mika and Kyotoku ultimately support the plan and allow their daughter to continue her Hero Course education.
Later flashbacks to Kyoka's childhood show how both parents encouraged her musical development without demanding that it become her profession.
Relationships
Relationships
Kyoka Jiro is Mika's daughter and inherits both her Earphone Jack Quirk and the family's musical talent.
Kyotoku Jiro is Mika's husband and fellow musician. He takes the Jiro surname upon marriage and is established to have fallen in love with Mika's musical ability.
Shouta Aizawa and All Might visit Mika and her family while requesting permission for Kyoka to live at U.A.
