Kuroud

Kuroud is talkative, dramatic and prone to cowardice when genuine danger replaces his staged games. He particularly fears snakes, making opponents with serpentine abilities difficult for him to face calmly.

He also behaves suggestively around attractive women and enjoys being carried in his purse body. These habits supply comedy but sometimes irritate his assigned partner, Orihime.

Kuroud can transform into other people with convincing physical detail, including their voices and mannerisms. He can imitate their abilities but cannot reproduce spiritual power beyond his own capacity, so transformations into elite fighters do not grant equivalent strength.

He can also detect the characteristic reishi of Bounts and their Dolls. Spiritually perceptive opponents may expose his disguises by noticing that his reiatsu does not match the person copied.

Kuroud joins Ririn and Nova in staging apparent kidnappings that test Ichigo’s group. Urahara later reveals their identities and assigns Kuroud to Orihime Inoue for the Bount investigation.

He frequently copies Renji Abarai during combat and uses impersonation to confuse enemies. Kuroud survives the Bount crisis, remains at the Urahara Shop and appears in later anime-only scenes.

Orihime Inoue is Kuroud’s assigned partner and often carries his plush form. Ririn and Nova are his fellow Modified Souls, while Kisuke Urahara created and directs all three.

Renji Abarai is the person Kuroud most frequently imitates. Rukia Kuchiki finds his rabbitlike plush body appealing because it resembles Chappy.
