Chiaki is quiet, composed and emotionally restrained. Even after becoming involved in violent confrontations, she displays little of the panic expected from an ordinary teenager.
She does occasionally reveal a lighter side. Gantz's "Host Samurai" nickname for Hikawa makes her laugh, surprising him because such an open emotional reaction is unusual for her.
Chiaki also appears emotionally invested in Hikawa despite his professed indifference. She asks whether he would care if she died, suggesting that their partnership matters more to her than she openly admits.

Chiaki fights with the enhanced physical abilities associated with Gantz's Vampires, including superhuman speed, strength and reflexes.
She uses a katana in close combat and is dangerous enough to engage Gantz hunters directly. Her swordsmanship is competent but not presented as equal to Hikawa's exceptional skill.
Like other Vampires, her physical abilities originate from the nanomachines within her body rather than Gantz equipment.

Chiaki first appears among schoolgirls invited into a Vampire gathering. Akira tries to warn her, but the situation escalates before she can escape.
After the other girls are killed, Akira attempts to protect Chiaki, but Hikawa defeats him and takes her. Chiaki subsequently reappears as a Vampire accompanying Hikawa.
During the confrontation with Kurono's team, Chiaki uses Reika to cross into the Gantz transfer and is transported into the black sphere's room alongside Hikawa. The two are then treated as participants and sent into the Nurarihyon mission, where Chiaki fights both hunters and yōkai.

Hikawa is Chiaki's partner and the Vampire she accompanies after her introduction. Chiaki appears to care about Hikawa more openly than he claims to care about her.
Akira Kurono tries to protect Chiaki when she is first exposed to the Vampires. His attempt fails when Hikawa intervenes and takes her.
Reika Shimohira is grabbed by Chiaki during the Gantz transfer, allowing Chiaki to be transported into the room.
