Hikawa

Hikawa is quiet, composed and emotionally detached. Even during violent confrontations, he rarely loses his calm or wastes time on unnecessary conversation.

He openly claims to care primarily about himself. When Chiaki asks whether he would miss her if she died, his hesitant answer is still negative, although their continued partnership suggests that he tolerates her company more than that of most people.

Hikawa is also pragmatic. He kills when it suits his objectives but is capable of abandoning a confrontation when he sees no reason to continue it.

As a Vampire, Hikawa possesses strength, speed and reflexes beyond ordinary humans. He can evade attacks from experienced fighters such as Daizaemon Kaze and Masaru Katou, making him dangerous even without a Gantz suit.

His greatest skill is swordsmanship. Hikawa produces and uses a katana with exceptional speed and precision, allowing him to fight both Gantz hunters and powerful aliens at close range. He can also use firearms and adapts quickly to weapons obtained during missions.

His Vampire physiology provides the physical foundation for his fighting style, while his composure allows him to exploit openings rather than relying on uncontrolled aggression.

Hikawa becomes one of the principal Vampires targeting Gantz hunters after the organization begins systematically hunting participants outside missions.

During a confrontation with Kurono, Hikawa kills him. While preparing to attack Suzuki, he is caught in Gantz's transfer and unexpectedly transported into the Tokyo room with Chiaki, making both Vampires participants in the system they had been fighting.

Hikawa and Chiaki are subsequently sent to Osaka with the Tokyo hunters. There he fights both Osaka players and yōkai, scores 42 points and survives the Nurarihyon mission. He later appears after the Italian mission and remains alive through the final conflict.

Chiaki is Hikawa's regular partner and fellow Vampire. Although Hikawa claims that he would not miss Chiaki if she died, the two repeatedly operate together and remain companions after being drawn into Gantz.

Kei Kurono becomes one of Hikawa's principal Gantz enemies. Their conflict culminates in Hikawa killing Kurono before being unexpectedly transferred into the Gantz room.

Yoshikazu Suzuki is present during the confrontation that results in Hikawa's transfer into Gantz.

Daizaemon Kaze and Masaru Katou both confront Hikawa and discover how difficult his Vampire speed and swordsmanship make him to attack.
