Kazui Kurosaki

Kazui is cheerful, inquisitive, and unusually fearless around supernatural phenomena. He befriends wandering souls and treats experiences that would alarm most spiritually aware humans as ordinary adventures.

He is also rambunctious and independent, sometimes leaving home without permission and entering Hiyori Sarugaki’s residence uninvited. His lack of caution appears rooted in innocence rather than bravado; even ominous manifestations associated with Hell provoke curiosity instead of fear.

Kazui can see and communicate with spirits. He is able to assume a Soul Reaper form while apparently retaining his hoodie over the standard shihakushō, though the precise mechanism of this transformation has not been explained. He carries a sheathed Zanpakutō, but its name and released abilities remain unknown.

He can open unusual portals through which souls disappear. The process differs visibly from the conventional Konsō performed by Soul Reapers and is accompanied by dark, tooth-like shapes. The destination and full nature of these portals have not been conclusively established.

Kazui also comes into contact with the final remnant of Yhwach’s spiritual power, which disappears when he reaches toward it. Whether this results from a deliberate ability or another force remains unexplained.

Kazui appears in the manga’s concluding chapter while playing in his family’s home. His encounter with Yhwach’s remaining reiatsu coincides with its disappearance in the past, after which he meets Ichika Abarai and reveals that he can become a Soul Reaper.

In No Breaths from Hell, Kazui guides a deceased soul through one of his portals and later visits the Human World’s shrine connected to the Konsō Reisai. He encounters a skeletal creature associated with Hell, hinting that his unexplained spiritual activities may have wider consequences.

Ichigo Kurosaki is Kazui’s father, while Orihime Inoue is his mother. He inherits strong spiritual potential from their unusual backgrounds but has not yet received formal on-page instruction from either parent.

Karin Kurosaki and Yuzu Kurosaki are his paternal aunts, and Isshin Kurosaki is his paternal grandfather. Ichika Abarai is a friend near his own age, although she reacts with surprise when he reveals his Soul Reaper form. Hiyori Sarugaki knows him as an intrusive neighborhood child who repeatedly enters her home.
