Kaneda is lazy, skeptical and more interested in games than exercise. He readily joins Hashigami and Ino in avoiding class.
He distrusts Karin because of her reputation but is easily frightened by events he cannot explain. His attempt to report what he sees earns detention rather than belief.

Kaneda is an ordinary Human child without supernatural powers. He cannot identify the spirit occupying Ichigo’s body or the Hollow threatening the school.
His role is that of a civilian witness and potential victim. No unusual athletic or combat ability is established.

Kaneda, Hashigami and Ino hide to play video games during gym class. They encounter Kon while he occupies Ichigo Kurosaki’s body and are frightened by his erratic behavior.
Their teacher refuses to believe the report and places them in detention. A Hollow subsequently attacks, and Kon intervenes to protect the children.
