Kagine is strict, muscular and easily angered by student misconduct. He expects classmates to restrain one another and holds the entire group responsible when Ichigo creates a public disturbance.
He is not entirely unmoved by emotion. Rukia’s convincing display of tears briefly softens him, though his anger returns as soon as the students exploit the distraction to escape.

He appears physically fit as a physical-education instructor, but the story gives him no combat scene or exceptional athletic feat.

Rukia Kuchiki pretends to cry, distracting Kagine long enough for Orihime Inoue, Tatsuki Arisawa, Keigo Asano, Mizuiro Kojima and Yasutora Sado to flee with her. He later makes a brief anime-only appearance during the Bount storyline.
