Ichi the Witch

Kagami Jou

カガミ女王

Story Role

The queen's history is gradually connected to the emotional state of Kagami's royal family. Her family experiences the same central tension that eventually affects the wider country: painful emotions can be removed, but doing so changes the meaning attached to memories that produced them.

Kagami Jou dies before the main events of the Bakugami storyline. Richia's grief over losing her becomes one of the emotions affected by Bakugami's power, helping Gokuraku recognize that the Majik's "happiness" is taking something essential from the people it supposedly helps.

Her memory consequently becomes important evidence against the idea that sorrow is inherently worthless. Grief can hurt precisely because the person who has been lost mattered.
