Ikazuchi Akatsuki

Akatsuki is violent, mocking and openly enthusiastic about the lawlessness that follows the Great Tokyo Earthquake. Rather than regarding the devastated city as a tragedy, he sees its collapse of social order as freedom.

He enjoys overwhelming opponents physically and admits that he lacks the skill to hold back. His confrontations with Senji are personal because they connect his later imprisonment with the violent gangs Senji fought as a young police officer.

Akatsuki becomes a Complete Forgery and gains the artificial Branch of Sin Rari Ranshin, also referred to as Decimating Frenzy. His blood forms a scorpion-like appendage capable of injecting the specialized Forgery poison.

The poison functions like extreme doping when applied to his own body. Akatsuki can enlarge and reinforce selected muscle groups, producing dramatic increases in strength, jumping ability and physical resilience.

His techniques include Asōgi, which enhances his legs for explosive movement, and Kōkasha, which reinforces his shoulders for a devastating body check. He can also enhance much of his body simultaneously.

After the Great Tokyo Earthquake, Akatsuki becomes involved with Goreless Peace and other criminals exploiting the devastated Tokyo area. His activities bring him into conflict with Senji and the police unit attempting to restore order.

Akatsuki and allied criminals challenge Senji's police unit and massacre Senji's colleagues after they confront the gang without him. Akatsuki is later arrested and imprisoned in Deadman Wonderland.

Tamaki selects him as one of the First Unit Complete Forgeries. During the revolt, Akatsuki encounters Senji again and uses Rari Ranshin to overpower Crow Claw before Senji ultimately defeats and kills him.

Kiyomasa Senji is Akatsuki's principal enemy. Their conflict begins during Senji's police career and ends when Senji defeats him as a Complete Forgery.

Domon is Senji's senior police officer and one of the officers killed during the gang attack associated with Akatsuki.

Keigo Ugachi is associated with the criminal group that comes into conflict with Senji's police unit.

Tsunenaga Tamaki selects Akatsuki for transformation into a Complete Forgery.

Madoka Shishito serves alongside Akatsuki in the First Unit of Complete Forgeries.
