Ignia

Ignia is arrogant, violent and intensely confident in his own strength. He openly disparages opponents he considers weak and shows little concern for collateral damage, casually unleashing flames capable of devastating inhabited areas. Even his fellow Dragon Gods are discussed as rivals rather than beings he fears.

His fixation on Natsu Dragneel is especially pronounced. Ignia does not simply want to kill Natsu; he wants him to become powerful enough to provide a satisfying one-on-one battle. He is therefore willing to provoke, threaten and even temporarily assist Natsu when doing so serves that eventual confrontation.

Ignia possesses Fire Dragon Slayer Magic of extraordinary scale. He can unleash a Fire Dragon's Roar, rain enormous quantities of flame across the battlefield and envelop his fists in fire for close-range attacks. Simply releasing his magical power is sufficient to engulf large areas in flames, and his status as a Dragon God places his magic in the same broad class as the power attributed to Acnologia.

He can transform freely between human and dragon forms and partially manifest dragon features such as wings while otherwise remaining human. Ignia also demonstrates telepathy and spatial transportation through flame-like portals. His physical strength is similarly exceptional; early in his encounter with Natsu, he stops one of Natsu's punches with a single hand and remains unmoved by a direct blow.

Ignia first becomes directly involved in Team Natsu's journey during the confrontation with Mercphobia. He supplies Natsu with exceptionally powerful flames, allowing him to overcome the rampaging Water Dragon God, but the power temporarily drives Natsu into a far more destructive state. Ignia then reveals his connection to Igneel and explains that his interest lies in fighting Natsu after he becomes stronger.

His importance grows substantially as the 100 Years Quest continues. Ignia is allied with Dogramag and is pursuing plans that extend beyond merely surviving Elefseria's quest. He ultimately emerges as the architect of a new Dragon King Festival intended to restore dragons to dominance, turning his desired duel with Natsu into part of a much larger conflict.

Igneel is Ignia's biological father. Ignia inherited both his draconic appearance and affinity for fire from the Fire Dragon King, although he displays little of Natsu's emotional reverence for Igneel.

Natsu Dragneel is Ignia's foster brother through Igneel. Ignia becomes obsessed with cultivating Natsu into an opponent worthy of fighting him, making their relationship a mixture of familial connection, rivalry and deliberate provocation.

Mercphobia is one of Ignia's fellow Dragon Gods. Ignia regards him with condescension and intervenes during Mercphobia's battle with Natsu for his own purposes.

Selene is another Dragon God and a direct rival whose goals conflict with Ignia's. Their confrontation demonstrates that disputes among the Dragon Gods can escalate into battles on a scale far beyond ordinary mage conflicts.

Dogramag is Ignia's friend and ally, a relationship unusual among the otherwise mutually suspicious Dragon Gods. Dogramag's plans and lingering power become closely connected with Ignia's larger ambitions.

Elefseria considers Ignia one of the Dragon Gods whose power must be sealed as part of the 100 Years Quest.
