Elefseria

Elefseria combines an eccentric, lighthearted manner with considerable resolve. He enjoys teasing his visitors and has a conspicuously perverted streak, but his behavior changes quickly when the stakes of the 100 Years Quest are discussed. He respects determination and responds warmly when Team Natsu commits itself to completing the mission that has defeated generations of challengers.

His commitment to organized wizardry comes from witnessing persecution firsthand. Elefseria believes mages require communities capable of protecting them, an outlook that ultimately motivates his creation of Magia Dragon.

Elefseria is a self-taught Dragon Slayer who uses Law Dragon Slayer Magic. Unlike elemental varieties of Dragon Slayer Magic, Law concerns knowledge and information, allowing him to acquire extraordinary information about the magical world, including secrets inaccessible to ordinary contemporary mages.

He can also use Teleportation Magic and possesses the heightened senses associated with Dragon Slayers. Excessive use of Dragon Slayer Magic caused Elefseria to undergo dragonification, and he can shift between human and dragon forms. His dragon physiology provides immense physical power, flight and unusual regenerative properties.

In X633, Elefseria witnesses persecution and killing directed at mages. He responds by establishing Magia Dragon to unite and protect them, making it the first wizard guild in Earth-land's history. He later teaches himself Dragon Slayer Magic to fight the powerful dragons of Guiltina.

His campaigns eventually involve the Dragon Gods themselves. Elefseria defeats Dogramag, but Dogramag devours his heart during their battle; Elefseria's dragonized body allows him to survive. The mission to seal the remaining Dragon Gods persists for more than a century and becomes known simply as the 100 Years Quest.

When Team Natsu arrives, Elefseria explains that their objective is to seal the Dragon Gods and warns them that each possesses power comparable to Acnologia. He then sends them toward their first target, Mercphobia, beginning the central journey of the sequel.

Natsu Dragneel, Lucy Heartfilia, Erza Scarlet, Gray Fullbuster and Wendy Marvell are the Fairy Tail mages Elefseria accepts as challengers of the 100 Years Quest. Their accomplishments convince him that they may finally be capable of completing it.

Dogramag, the Earth Dragon God, is one of Elefseria's most consequential enemies. Elefseria defeats him in battle, but Dogramag devours Elefseria's original heart, creating consequences that resurface much later.

Duke Barbaroa is Elefseria's former pupil. Elefseria later seeks Duke's alchemical expertise as part of his effort to develop a means of combating dragons.

Athena is a weapon created through Duke's work at Elefseria's request, although her tremendous destructive capability creates problems of its own.

Mercphobia, Ignia, Aldoron, Selene and Viernes form the group whose sealing constitutes the quest Elefseria entrusts to Team Natsu.
