Heita Momoyama

Heita is earnest, demanding and deeply proud of his work. Unable to touch ordinary ingredients as a Plus, he directs his helpers closely and repeatedly rejects unsuccessful cakes.

His exacting manner comes from affection rather than vanity. He wants the cake to comfort his mother, and the possibility that she will leave without tasting it threatens the emotional attachment keeping him in the Human World.

Heita has no combat abilities. As an earthbound Plus, he is invisible to ordinary humans and tethered to the place of his death by a long Chain of Fate.

His professional knowledge allows him to direct the preparation of his cake. When grief destabilizes his soul, his chest begins opening toward Hollowfication, but Hanatarō’s healing Zanpakutō repairs the spiritual injury before the transformation completes.

Yumichika Ayasegawa, Hanatarō Yamada and Rin Tsubokura encounter Heita outside his former bakery. Rather than immediately perform Konsō, they agree to become his hands and reproduce the cake.

Heita’s mother initially refuses it because cakes remind her of her son’s death. His anguish begins turning him into a Hollow and attracts a Gillian, but Hanatarō stabilizes him. Rin’s device allows mother and son to speak; after she eats the finished cake and accepts his farewell, Heita can pass on peacefully.

Heita’s unnamed mother is the person whose grief anchors him to the Human World. Yumichika Ayasegawa, Hanatarō Yamada and Rin Tsubokura fulfill his final request.

Kisuke Urahara lets the group use his kitchen, while Ururu Tsumugiya, Yasutora Sado and Renji Abarai assist with testing the cakes.
