Haruya Numata

Numata is cruel, arrogant and cowardly. He enjoys intimidating people when backed by his gang but shows little genuine courage against opponents capable of retaliating.

He laughs at the suffering of other participants, including Joichiro Nishi, and threatens civilians as readily as fellow hunters.

Numata also refuses to think seriously about Gantz's warnings. His aggression substitutes for planning, leaving him poorly equipped for the reality of the hunt.

Numata has no supernatural abilities, notable combat training or exceptional physical fitness.

He is given access to a Gantz suit but does not properly use it during the mission. In the manga, he considers putting it on after seeing Nemoto equipped but ultimately remains without its protection.

He uses intimidation and Gantz weaponry against other humans more readily than he uses the equipment effectively against aliens.

Numata enters with Nemoto and the other bikers before the Tanaka Alien mission. He initially mocks the strange situation and participates in harassing the other people in the room.

During the hunt, he helps force Kurono to approach the Tanaka Aliens' lair while placing himself at less immediate risk.

The strategy provides no protection when the mission's boss appears. Numata is seized and carried into the air by the powerful alien, which kills him during the final stage of the hunt.

Tetsuo Nemoto is Numata's gang leader and enters Gantz alongside him.

Kosuke Nakajima and Shinsuke Nishikawa are fellow members of the biker group.

Kei Kurono becomes the target of Numata's intimidation when the biker forces him toward the aliens' lair.

Kei Kishimoto is subjected to Numata's predatory attention in the Gantz room.

Joichiro Nishi receives no sympathy from Numata when his suit fails during the mission and he desperately asks the others for help.
