Haineko

Haineko is mischievous, flirtatious and easily bored. She enjoys provoking both Rangiku and Tobiume, often preferring gossip or amusement to disciplined work.

Her apparent carelessness conceals genuine affection. She becomes emotionally attached to a rogue Zanpakutō spirit and reacts with grief rather than indifference when his condition deteriorates.

Haineko releases with the command “Growl,” turning its blade into ash while leaving the hilt in Rangiku’s hand. Any surface touched by the cloud can be cut when the hilt is swung, allowing attacks to arrive from several directions.

The ash can surround targets, form cutting waves or gather into a defensive vortex. The manifested Haineko can condense the ash back into a sword and combines its manipulation with agile hand-to-hand combat.

No Bankai has been revealed.

Rangiku uses Haineko against Arrancar during the Karakura Town battles. Its diffuse blade makes conventional blocks difficult, although opponents can disperse or contain the ash.

During the anime rebellion, Haineko abandons Rangiku under Muramasa’s influence. After their reconciliation, she befriends Narunosuke, an unstable Tōjū who deceives her while trying to survive. When he attacks Rangiku, Haineko defeats him and mourns as he dies in her arms.

Rangiku Matsumoto is Haineko’s wielder. They share playful, easily distracted dispositions and frequently criticize each other despite their underlying attachment.

Tobiume is Haineko’s companion and favorite target for teasing. Muramasa manipulates her during the rebellion, while Narunosuke is the rogue spirit for whom she develops affection.
