Gustav

Gustav is stern, quiet and pragmatic. Unlike commanders who dismiss inexperienced soldiers automatically, he listens carefully when Armin proposes using Eren's Titan form to seal Trost.

His willingness to hear the proposal does not make him uncritical. Gustav immediately identifies the uncertainty at the center of the plan and acknowledges that hundreds of soldiers may be sent to their deaths if Eren cannot perform as expected.

He nevertheless understands Pixis's willingness to accept that risk and remains loyal to him throughout later political upheavals.

Gustav is a senior Garrison soldier trusted with command-level responsibilities.

His duties include strategic planning, casualty reporting, escorting Pixis, evaluating battlefield proposals and participating in high-level military meetings.

No distinctive personal combat technique is established, but his continued position beside Pixis demonstrates considerable professional reliability.

Gustav participates in the planning session after Pixis prevents Eren, Mikasa and Armin from being executed. He helps evaluate Armin's plan to have Eren carry the boulder blocking Trost's gate.

He later reports the human cost of the operation to Pixis, who insists on accepting responsibility for the soldiers deliberately sacrificed to make the plan work.

Gustav remains at Pixis's side during the Wall Rose crisis and the Royal Government coup. During Erwin's trial, Gustav witnesses the ruling nobles order Wall Rose refugees abandoned rather than admitted into Wall Sheena, helping expose the government's priorities.

Years later, he continues serving Pixis during the political crisis created by Eren and the Yeagerists.

Dot Pixis is Gustav's commander and the officer he serves as an aide and trusted subordinate.

Anka Rheinberger is Gustav's fellow aide and frequently works beside him.

Armin Arlert earns Gustav's attention with his proposal for retaking Trost.

Eren Yeager becomes the central element of the risky Trost strategy Gustav helps evaluate.

Erwin Smith works within the same senior military coalition during the political struggle against the royal government.
