Goemon Ishikawa XIII

Goemon is quiet, disciplined, stoic, and strongly influenced by traditional samurai values. He speaks less than Lupin or Jigen and often separates himself from their more frivolous behavior.

His seriousness does not prevent him from becoming involved in Lupin's elaborate schemes, although he is more selective about participating than Jigen. Personal honor and the opportunity to test his swordsmanship can influence his decisions as strongly as money.

Goemon can also be surprisingly naïve about modern society and romance, creating a comic contrast with his otherwise formidable demeanor.

Goemon is an extraordinary swordsman whose speed, reflexes, balance, and precision exceed normal human limits. He can cut bullets, vehicles, metal structures, and other extremely durable objects before opponents have time to react.

His principal weapon is Zantetsuken, a katana renowned for cutting almost anything. Despite its reputation, individual Lupin stories establish occasional materials or objects it cannot easily slice, making its capabilities broad rather than literally limitless.

Goemon is also an accomplished martial artist and can fight effectively without relying entirely on his sword.

Goemon is one of Lupin's principal allies and participates in both Detective Conan crossover stories. His involvement generally centers on supporting Lupin during operations that require direct combat or impossible-looking feats of cutting.

In Lupin III vs. Detective Conan, he becomes involved in the events surrounding Vespania while Lupin investigates the kingdom and targets its treasures.

He returns for Lupin III vs. Detective Conan: The Movie, assisting Lupin and Jigen as the apparent theft of the Cherry Sapphire develops into a larger conspiracy.

Arsène Lupin III is Goemon's recurring ally and the organizer of many operations in which Goemon participates.

Daisuke Jigen is Goemon's fellow member of Lupin's regular group and frequently fights beside him.

Fujiko Mine is another recurring associate, although Goemon is generally more suspicious of her shifting loyalties.
