Gin

Gin is ruthless, suspicious, patient, and exceptionally difficult to deceive. He has little tolerance for failure and treats assassination as routine work, whether his target is an enemy, an inconvenient witness, or another Organization member suspected of disloyalty.

He possesses an unusually sharp memory for threats while being dismissive of people he considers insignificant. Gin rarely panics when a plan is disrupted. Instead, he reassesses the available evidence, anticipates what his opponents might attempt next, and is willing to abandon an operation rather than expose the Organization unnecessarily.

Gin also shows little sentimentality toward his colleagues. His working relationship with Vodka is stable, but even Vodka is expected to obey his instructions without hesitation.

Gin is an experienced assassin and marksman with extensive knowledge of firearms, surveillance, counter-surveillance, interrogation, and covert operations. He frequently carries a Beretta M1934 and is capable of making difficult shots under pressure.

His greatest strength is his investigative instinct. Gin notices inconsistencies that other Organization members overlook and routinely checks for tracking devices, listening equipment, traps, and signs that an operation has been compromised. He is particularly dangerous because he does not assume that an apparently successful mission actually succeeded.

Gin also has considerable tolerance for pain and remains operational after serious injuries. He coordinates other Black Organization members during large missions and is trusted with information and responsibilities unavailable to ordinary operatives.

Gin appears in the first chapter alongside Vodka at Tropical Land. After Shinichi witnesses an illegal transaction, Gin attacks him from behind and administers APTX 4869, believing the experimental poison will kill him without leaving conventional evidence.

The drug instead shrinks Shinichi into the body of a child, creating Conan Edogawa and making Gin's attempted murder the event that establishes the series' central premise. Gin remains unaware that Shinichi survived.

Gin subsequently becomes one of Conan's principal Black Organization adversaries. His involvement in operations concerning Ai Haibara, Vermouth, the FBI, and suspected traitors repeatedly brings him close to discovering secrets that could expose Conan and his allies.

Vodka is Gin's regular partner and subordinate. Gin relies on Vodka for transportation, communications, meetings, and logistical work but frequently corrects him when his trusting nature creates vulnerabilities.

Shinichi Kudo is the teenager Gin attempted to eliminate with APTX 4869. [Gin believes Shinichi Kudo died and does not know that the drug transformed him into Conan.](#spoiler)

Ai Haibara was formerly the Organization scientist Shiho Miyano, codenamed Sherry. Gin relentlessly pursues her after her escape.

Vermouth frequently participates in operations alongside Gin, although her secrecy and independent behavior make their relationship uneasy.

Chianti and Korn operate as snipers under Gin's direction during major Organization missions.

Akemi Miyano is confronted by Gin after completing the billion-yen robbery intended to secure freedom for herself and her sister. Gin reveals that the Organization never intended to honor the agreement and shoots her.
