He is pragmatic about Vespania's resources and future, particularly the discovery of a rare mineral that could transform the kingdom economically and strategically.

Behind his respectable public behavior, Gerard is ruthless, ambitious, and willing to use murder to secure political power and control over Vespania's resources.

Gerard has no supernatural powers. His strengths lie in political influence, manipulation, planning, and the authority granted by his position within the Vespanian royal family.

He understands the significance of Vespania's newly discovered mineral and the international consequences of controlling it.

Gerard is also capable of carefully staging crimes to resemble accidents, using his position and knowledge of royal affairs to divert suspicion.

Gerard becomes increasingly important after upheaval in Vespania places Mira Julietta Vespaland at the center of the royal succession. His position as her uncle makes him one of the senior figures responsible for the kingdom during the crisis.

Conan's investigation eventually focuses on inconsistencies surrounding the royal family's recent tragedy and Gerard's interest in the newly discovered Vespanian ore.

Gerard is exposed as the architect of the conspiracy. He murdered Queen Sakura and Prince Jihl and intended to eliminate Mira so that he could take the throne and control Vespania's valuable mineral resources. Conan and Lupin expose his crimes before the plan can succeed.

Sakura Aldia Vespaland is Gerard's older sister and the queen of Vespania. Gerard murders Sakura as part of his plan to seize control of the kingdom.

Jihl Khaul Vespaland is Gerard's nephew and a member of the royal succession. Gerard also causes Jihl's death while staging the royal tragedy to conceal his own responsibility.

Mira Julietta Vespaland is Gerard's niece. Gerard plans to kill Mira after she becomes the remaining obstacle to his accession to the throne.

Conan Edogawa and Arsène Lupin III independently investigate the royal tragedy and ultimately expose Gerard's conspiracy.

Keith Dan Stinger remains loyal to the Vespanian crown and opposes Gerard once the conspiracy is uncovered.
