Furan

Furan deliberately presents himself as foolish and unserious. His bizarre facial markings reinforce that impression and make him easier to underestimate than the more openly threatening members of the Seigi Party.

Beneath the performance, he is observant and experienced in combat. His willingness to disguise his competence behind ridiculous behavior functions as a practical advantage: opponents who judge him by appearances may realize his actual skill too late.

His loyalty is directed toward Shoukan and the violent community in which he has found a place. Canon gives comparatively little information about his life before joining the group in the material covered by the anime.

Furan is an accomplished swordsman whose strength is deliberately concealed. Fubuki recognizes that his apparently incompetent movements do not reflect his actual level of danger.

His swordsmanship relies on irregular changes in his attack. By varying his movements, Furan makes his blade difficult to read and forces an opponent to determine which subtle physical cues reveal his genuine strike.

Fubuki's analytical ability makes their confrontation particularly technical. Rather than defeating Furan through raw strength alone, he studies the small differences in his movements and searches for the habit that exposes his attacks.

Furan appears as one of Shoukan's principal subordinates when the Seigi Party attacks Nakayama Manor. The bandits have been employed as an indirect means of weakening territory associated with Suwa.

When Tokiyuki's group joins the defense, Furan becomes one of the elite enemies Fubuki identifies among the attackers. The fighting separates the strongest bandits into individual confrontations with the young defenders.

Furan battles Fubuki and initially pressures him with his deceptive swordsmanship. Fubuki eventually recognizes the physical tell distinguishing Furan's attacks and exploits it to defeat him, killing Furan during the battle for the settlement.

Shoukan is Furan's leader and commands the Seigi Party during its attacks on settlements near Suwa territory.

Fubuki becomes Furan's principal opponent during the battle at Nakayama Manor. Fubuki analyzes Furan's deceptive swordsmanship and ultimately defeats him.

Byakkotsu and Shirou are fellow officers within the Seigi Party.

Sadamune Ogasawara employs Shoukan's group as part of his effort to undermine Suwa's position without relying exclusively on conventional warriors.
