Fra Rarada

Fra is initially frightened, resistant and understandably hostile toward Kurono. She attempts to deceive him by switching off his translator and calling soldiers for help rather than willingly cooperating with an armed human who has seized her.

As they spend more time together, Fra displays curiosity and empathy unusual among the alien civilians prominently encountered by the humans. She begins asking questions about Kurono and his relationship with Tae rather than seeing him only as an enemy combatant.

Her compassion eventually overcomes the hostility created by the invasion. Fra chooses to help Kurono beyond what he can force her to do, even as the war between their species collapses around them.

Fra is an ordinary member of the giant alien species rather than a warrior comparable with Eeva Gund. Her enormous size relative to humans nevertheless gives her physical capabilities beyond an ordinary human.

She understands the alien city, its transportation and its technology, making her invaluable as a guide aboard the mothership.

Kurono uses translation technology to communicate with her, allowing conversations that would otherwise be impossible between their species.

Fra meets Kurono after he becomes separated from Tae aboard the mothership. He takes Fra with him and forces her to help navigate the alien city.

Their relationship changes as Fra sees Kurono's determination to find Tae. She eventually becomes actively involved in helping reunite the pair rather than functioning merely as a captive guide.

After Kurono is transferred away from Tae again, Fra personally brings Tae back to him. She is fatally shot while completing the reunion and asks Kurono not to kill her people. Her plea contributes to his decision not to destroy the tower supporting the surviving alien population.

Kei Kurono begins as Fra's captor and gradually becomes someone she chooses to help. Fra ultimately risks herself to reunite him with the person he is searching for.

Tae Kojima is the human Kurono is desperately trying to find, and Fra eventually assists her directly.

Eeva Gund is a celebrated warrior of Fra's civilization whom she identifies as its "God of War."
