Tae Kojima

Tae is shy, gentle and affectionate. She is insecure about her appearance and social standing but becomes increasingly comfortable around Kurono as their relationship develops.

She loves Kurono without knowing the heroic role he plays during Gantz missions. This is crucial to their relationship: Tae is attached to the ordinary, imperfect version of him rather than the powerful leader admired by his teammates.

Tae also shows considerable resilience. Although she is not a trained fighter and lacks the advantages of a Gantz suit for most of the story, she repeatedly endures situations far beyond anything an ordinary student should encounter.

Tae has no inherent supernatural abilities and is not initially a Gantz hunter.

She enjoys drawing and photography, producing artwork of Kurono and carrying a camera. Her photography inadvertently becomes important when she captures evidence connected to a Gantz mission.

Tae's survival skills are those of an ordinary person rather than a combatant. She relies on caution, persistence and help from others when confronted with the extraordinary dangers surrounding Gantz.

Tae enters Kurono's life through a school dare, but the relationship quickly stops being a joke. Kurono discovers that being with someone who genuinely cares about him gives ordinary life a value he had previously struggled to find.

Her accidental proximity to the secret Gantz world eventually creates a direct conflict between Kurono's personal life and the game. After Tae photographs a mission, Gantz identifies her as the target of a subsequent hunt. Kurono turns against his own teammates to protect her.

Tae is ultimately killed during that mission, but Reika later spends 100 points to revive her because she knows Kurono loves her. Tae and Kurono subsequently resume their relationship.

Kei Kurono begins dating Tae because of a dare but genuinely falls in love with her. Tae's affection for Kei Kurono becomes one of the strongest reasons he wants to survive and return to ordinary life.

Shion Izumi becomes a direct threat to Tae when Gantz orders the Tokyo team to hunt her and Izumi aggressively pursues the objective.
