Chuuichirou Noma

Noma is playful, sarcastic and loyal. He joins enthusiastically in the running jokes about Sakuragi's failed romances, exaggerated confidence and frequent basketball mistakes.

He shares the gang's delinquent background and is comfortable in confrontational situations, but most of his appearances emphasize friendship and comedy rather than aggression.

As Sakuragi becomes more serious about basketball, Noma's attitude changes with him. The jokes never stop, but he begins following Shohoku's matches with genuine investment and recognizes that basketball has become important to his friend.

Noma is an experienced street fighter. Alongside the other members of Sakuragi's Gang, he can handle school delinquents and does not hesitate to intervene when friends are threatened.

No formal martial art or specialized fighting technique is established for him. His effectiveness comes from practical experience and the group's willingness to fight together.

He has no established basketball specialty. His involvement with the sport is primarily through supporting Sakuragi and Shohoku.

Noma appears from the opening stage of the story as part of Sakuragi's established social circle. He witnesses Sakuragi's romantic failures and the sudden change that follows his meeting with Haruko Akagi.

He becomes directly involved in the basketball club's affairs during the gymnasium confrontation initiated by Hisashi Mitsui. Noma and the rest of Sakuragi's Gang help fight the accompanying delinquents and protect the basketball players.

Afterward, he regularly appears in the stands during Shohoku's matches. The gang's increasingly serious support emphasizes how far Sakuragi has progressed from someone pretending to like basketball for Haruko's attention.

Hanamichi Sakuragi is Noma's longtime friend from Wakou Junior High. Noma mocks him constantly but supports him without hesitation when circumstances become serious.

Yohei Mito, Nozomi Takamiya and Yuji Ookusu are Noma's fellow members of Sakuragi's Gang and his regular companions.

Haruko Akagi becomes familiar to Noma through Sakuragi and frequently watches Shohoku alongside the gang.

Hisashi Mitsui first crosses paths with Noma during the violent incident at Shohoku's gymnasium.
