Butajiri

Butajiri is greedy, arrogant and convinced that wealth can overcome rules that inconvenience him. He is willing to bribe officials and arrange unfair conditions as long as he does not personally have to enter the arena.

His confidence is closely tied to the success of his schemes. When Team Masho begins losing despite the advantages he purchased, he becomes increasingly nervous and desperate.

He treats fighters largely as investments. The fortune he has wagered on Team Masho gives him a direct financial incentive to manipulate the competition by any means available.

Butajiri has no demonstrated supernatural or martial abilities. His practical power comes from wealth and his position within the Black Black Club.

He can bribe and pressure members of the tournament committee. This influence allows him to manipulate rulings and arrange circumstances that place Team Urameshi at a severe disadvantage.

His resources also enable him to sponsor Team Masho, a group of professional demon ninja who normally sell their services to wealthy clients.

Butajiri sponsors Team Masho for its match against Team Urameshi. Through corrupt tournament officials and the assistance of Ruka, he helps arrange for Hiei and the Masked Fighter to be barred from participating on medical grounds.

He continues interfering as the match develops, particularly after Jin's fight with Yusuke. His pressure on the committee contributes to the controversial ruling that prevents Yusuke from immediately continuing against Risho.

Despite Butajiri's manipulation, Kuwabara defeats Risho and Team Urameshi wins the round. Sakyo subsequently orders Younger Toguro to punish Butajiri for his conduct, and Toguro kills him with a single blow.

Risho leads the demon ninja team financed by Butajiri and cooperates with his attempts to manipulate the tournament.

Jin, Touya, Gama and Bakken are the other Team Masho fighters competing under Butajiri's sponsorship.

Ruka assists Butajiri's scheme by using her barrier to keep Hiei and the Masked Fighter away from the match.

Sakyo is another Black Black Club figure and orders Butajiri's elimination after his cheating.

Toguro Otouto carries out Sakyo's order and kills Butajiri.

Yusuke Urameshi and Kazuma Kuwabara compete for the team Butajiri attempts to eliminate through bribery and manipulated rulings.
