Belchero is strict, quick-tempered and uncompromising about the orphanage's rules. Children who ignore lessons or violate regulations can expect punishment, and she insists that Artifacts recovered during training belong to the institution rather than the individual apprentice.

Her severity is not simple cruelty. Belchero is responsible for children training in an occupation where mistakes can be fatal, and she wants them properly educated and the orphanage financially sustainable.

Belchero was once an active cave raider, although her former whistle rank has not been established. Knee injuries eventually forced her to retire from active delving.
