Arsène Lupin III

Lupin is audacious, playful, theatrical, and extraordinarily confident. He treats many robberies as games in which defeating security systems and rival criminals matters as much as obtaining the treasure itself.

Beneath his criminal profession, he follows a personal code that often places him against killers, dictators, traffickers, and thieves whose crimes are considerably more destructive than his own. He is capable of abandoning profit to protect another person and frequently becomes involved in situations where completing a heist requires stopping a greater crime.

His most exploitable weakness is Fujiko. Lupin understands that she routinely manipulates, betrays, and steals from him, yet remains infatuated with her and repeatedly takes risks on her behalf.

Lupin is an exceptional thief, escape artist, marksman, driver, pilot, impersonator, and planner. His disguises can convincingly reproduce another person's face, voice, and mannerisms, while his sleight of hand allows him to exchange or steal objects without observers noticing.

He is highly intelligent and mechanically capable, regularly creating gadgets or exploiting security systems that appear impossible to bypass. When plans collapse, his improvisational ability allows him to adapt rapidly.

Lupin normally carries a Walther P38 pistol and is an accomplished shooter, though Jigen surpasses him as a dedicated marksman. His physical agility is similarly exceptional, enabling acrobatics, escapes from restraints, and survival through exaggeratedly dangerous situations.

Lupin originates outside Detective Conan but shares continuity with its cast through the Lupin III vs. Detective Conan crossover productions. His criminal perspective makes him a natural counterpart to Conan: both are extraordinarily intelligent, but one specializes in solving impossible crimes while the other specializes in committing them.

Their encounters are complicated by the fact that Lupin is not ordinarily a murderer or indiscriminately malicious criminal. Conan may oppose his thefts while simultaneously working toward the same goal when a larger conspiracy threatens innocent people.

Lupin's gang provides a parallel ensemble to Conan's investigative network, with each member bringing a distinct specialty to their operations.

Daisuke Jigen is Lupin's most reliable partner and closest professional companion. Lupin trusts Daisuke Jigen's marksmanship and judgment even when they disagree.

Fujiko Mine is Lupin's recurring love interest and greatest personal weakness. He remains attracted to Fujiko Mine despite knowing she may betray him whenever money or treasure is involved.

Goemon Ishikawa XIII is another core member of Lupin's circle and provides unmatched swordsmanship when the gang requires direct combat.

Koichi Zenigata dedicates his career to arresting Lupin. Their endless pursuit also creates mutual familiarity and a degree of respect beneath their adversarial relationship.

Conan Edogawa becomes Lupin's investigative counterpart during their crossover encounters. Lupin recognizes Conan Edogawa's intelligence and treats the child detective as a genuine opponent rather than dismissing him because of his apparent age.
