Personality
Personality
Apocryphos is calm, single-minded and unsettlingly affectionate toward the people it targets. It interprets every action through its duty to protect the Heart and shows little concern for individual autonomy when that objective is involved.
Unlike human Exorcists, it does not appear to distinguish between protecting someone and forcibly changing them if both serve Innocence. Its serene manner therefore contrasts sharply with the invasive nature of its actions.
It regards the Noah as enemies but is not automatically an ally of the Black Order. Its loyalty belongs to the Heart rather than any human institution.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Apocryphos is an independent Innocence capable of operating without a human Accommodator. It can disguise itself in human form and suppress its supernatural presence.
It can manipulate other Innocence directly, heal or reconstruct its own body and overwhelm opponents through physical and supernatural force. Its nature makes ordinary methods of fighting Innocence ineffective against it.
Apocryphos can also interfere with memories. It is capable of altering or erasing a person's recollections, a power it uses to conceal its existence and protect information connected to the Heart.
Story Role
Story Role
Apocryphos enters the conflict after the existence of an autonomous Innocence becomes apparent to both the Noah and Allen Walker. Its sole stated purpose is protecting the Heart from the Millennium Earl.
It reveals that it intends to absorb Allen, arguing that becoming one with him will better protect the Heart. Allen refuses, turning a being aligned with Innocence into one of his most immediate pursuers.
Apocryphos is also responsible for manipulating memories surrounding Cross Marian and concealing its actions, placing it directly inside mysteries that had previously appeared to involve only the Order and Noah.

Allen Walker becomes Apocryphos's primary target. Apocryphos attempts to absorb Allen into itself in the name of protecting the Heart.
Cross Marian encounters Apocryphos during the events surrounding his disappearance, after which Apocryphos manipulates memories connected to the incident.
The Millennium Earl is the principal enemy of the Heart that Apocryphos exists to protect.
Nea D. Campbell is threatened by Apocryphos because his awakening within Allen conflicts directly with the sentient Innocence's plans for Allen's body.
