Zora Ideale

Zora is cynical, sarcastic, confrontational, and openly contemptuous of arrogant Magic Knights. He takes particular pleasure in humiliating nobles who abuse their positions and often uses insults and provocation to make opponents behave predictably.

His hostility is not directed at the institution's ideals so much as the people who fail to live up to them. Zora believes Magic Knights should protect civilians regardless of class and becomes furious when members use their authority for personal status.

That standard comes directly from Zara Ideale, whose pride in serving as a peasant Magic Knight deeply influenced his son. Zora's abrasive behavior therefore conceals a remarkably idealistic view of what a Magic Knight should actually be.

Zora uses Ash Magic, but his principal combat specialty is Trap Magic. He draws complex magical arrays that activate when specific conditions are met.

Counter Trap doubles an incoming magical attack and reflects it back toward the attacker. Because the arrays require preparation, Zora compensates through planning, deception, terrain control, and psychological manipulation.

His low social status means he does not possess the enormous mana reserves typical of nobles and royals. Zora instead treats efficiency and preparation as weapons, making him particularly dangerous against stronger opponents who underestimate him.

Zora later teaches Magna Swing how to construct advanced arrays. Because Magna lacks the mana needed for Heart Kingdom Mana Method, Zora helps him develop an alternative technique that eventually becomes Soul Chain Deathmatch.

Zora enters the Royal Knights Selection Exam under the identity of Xerx Lugner after incapacitating the real Magic Knight and taking his place. He is assigned to a team with Asta and Mimosa Vermillion.

His deliberately antagonistic behavior initially creates tension, but his traps and tactical planning make the team highly effective. Asta eventually realizes that Zora's criticism of Magic Knights comes from expecting them to live up to a genuine ideal rather than simple hatred.

Zora is later revealed as a member of the Black Bulls whom Yami Sukehiro recruited but who rarely visited the hideout. He joins the Royal Knights assault and becomes more directly involved with the squad afterward.

Zara Ideale is Zora's father and the foundation of his worldview. Zara became the first peasant Magic Knight and taught Zora to take pride in protecting other people. After Zara is murdered by fellow Magic Knights who resent his social background, Zora dedicates himself to exposing and punishing knights who disgrace the title.

Asta initially clashes with Zora's cynicism but earns his respect through genuine commitment to protecting others regardless of class.

Mimosa Vermillion serves alongside Zora and Asta during the Royal Knights Selection Exam and gradually adapts to his abrasive methods.

Yami Sukehiro recruits Zora into the Black Bulls despite Zora's habit of operating independently.

Magna Swing later seeks Zora's help after discovering that his mana is too limited for conventional Heart Kingdom training. Zora teaches him the principles behind complex arrays and helps him create a fighting method suited to his limited magical power.

Xerx Lugner is the Magic Knight whose identity Zora assumes during the Royal Knights Selection Exam after deciding that the man's abusive behavior makes him unworthy of representing the order.
