Zera

Zera begins as spoiled, arrogant, and openly cruel toward Mavis. She enjoys the preferential treatment given to her as the Guild Master's daughter and insults Mavis, whom her father forces to work for Red Lizard because of her parents' debt.

Her attitude changes dramatically after Blue Skull's attack. Zera becomes grateful for Mavis's kindness and asks to become her friend.

Years of isolation make her shy around strangers. She hides from Yuri Dreyar, Precht Gaebolg, and Warrod Sequen at first, even though she remains lively and outspoken around Mavis.

She becomes fiercely protective of Mavis and asks to learn magic because she wants enough strength to defend her.

Zera uses Fire Magic after receiving magical instruction during the group's journey. She can create small fireballs, though her combat ability receives little development.

She also demonstrates Telepathy, allowing her to communicate mentally across enormous distances.

The unusual scale of her later Telepathy is connected to the fact that Zera exists through Mavis's magical power rather than as an ordinary independent mage.

Zera lives on Tenrou Island as the daughter of Red Lizard's Guild Master and initially participates in her father's mistreatment of Mavis.

When Blue Skull attacks the island, Mavis finds Zera trapped beneath rubble and helps her escape into the forest. The experience begins their friendship.

Seven years later, Mavis encounters Yuri, Precht, and Warrod. Zera accompanies the group after they discover that Blue Skull stole the Tenrou Jade and travels with them to Magnolia.

She supports Mavis throughout the conflict and becomes especially determined to learn magic so she can protect her friend.

Yuri eventually reveals that neither he nor anyone else can see or hear Zera. The real Zera died from injuries sustained during Blue Skull's raid seven years earlier; the thirteen-year-old Zera traveling with Mavis is a sentient illusion unconsciously created by Mavis's Illusion Magic.

Once Mavis accepts the truth, Zera becomes visible to Yuri for the first time, entrusts him with protecting Mavis, and disappears.

Much later, Zera manifests again through Mavis's strengthened magic during the Alvarez conflict, helps rally scattered Fairy Tail members through Telepathy, and disappears again when Mavis fully remembers her.

Mavis Vermillion is Zera's closest friend. Their relationship begins with bullying but becomes one of mutual affection and fierce loyalty.

Zeeself is Zera's father and Guild Master of Red Lizard.

Yuri Dreyar travels with Zera and Mavis. After learning Zera's true nature, he is entrusted with protecting Mavis once Zera disappears.

Precht Gaebolg and Warrod Sequen accompany Mavis and Zera during the journey to recover the Tenrou Jade.

Zeref teaches magic to the group during its struggle against Blue Skull.

Gajeel Redfox encounters Zera's later manifestation during the Alvarez conflict and becomes one of the first Fairy Tail members to communicate directly with her.
