Yuuga Aoyama

Yuuga is flamboyant, attention-seeking, dramatic, and fond of posing as though constantly performing for an audience. He regularly inserts French words into his speech and cultivates the appearance of effortless elegance.

The confidence is partly defensive. Yuuga has long felt fundamentally different from people around him and is unusually sensitive to signs that another person is struggling to fit in. This is why he becomes interested in Izuku after recognizing similarities between their difficulties controlling their Quirks.

His kindness often appears through eccentric gestures rather than direct conversation. Leaving cheese messages for Izuku or drawing attention to himself during dangerous situations can seem bizarre, yet these actions frequently originate from concern for someone else.

Navel Laser fires a concentrated beam from Yuuga's abdomen with enough force to penetrate thick concrete. Its recoil can also propel him through the air, giving him limited aerial mobility.

Sustained firing causes severe abdominal discomfort. A specialized support belt regulates the Quirk and prevents unwanted leakage.

Training allows Yuuga to increase his endurance and develop more refined applications, including Navel Saber and larger multidirectional laser attacks. His strongest battlefield role is ranged support, where he can force opponents into movement or create openings for allies.

Yuuga participates throughout Class 1-A's training and major school incidents, often appearing as comic relief while occasionally demonstrating surprising courage.

During the provisional license examination, he deliberately fires his laser into the air even though doing so reveals his location, preferring to give classmates a rallying point rather than remain hidden alone.

His unusual interest in Izuku later develops into a genuine friendship based on their shared experience of possessing Quirks that do not naturally suit their bodies.

Yuuga is eventually revealed to have been born Quirkless. His parents obtained Navel Laser from All For One, who then used the family's debt to force Yuuga into secretly providing information about U.A. and Class 1-A.

After the truth emerges, Yuuga chooses to oppose All For One. During the Final War he participates in the heroes' deception plan, later fighting Kunieda alongside Tooru Hagakure and turning the Quirk that once bound him to All For One against the villain's forces.

Izuku Midoriya becomes one of Yuuga's most important classmates because both experience difficulty using Quirks that initially seem incompatible with their bodies.

Tooru Hagakure works closely with Yuuga, particularly because her light-refraction abilities interact exceptionally well with Navel Laser.

All For One gives Yuuga Navel Laser and later coerces his family into serving as informants, making him the source of Yuuga's deepest fear and guilt.

Yuuga's Father and Yuuga's Mother seek All For One's help because they want their Quirkless son to have the same opportunities as other children, only to trap the entire family in All For One's control.

Shouta Aizawa and the members of Class 1-A eventually confront Yuuga after his role as the unwilling U.A. informant is discovered.
