Shouta Aizawa

Aizawa is pragmatic, blunt, observant, and largely uninterested in ceremony. He sleeps whenever circumstances allow, dislikes unnecessary media attention, and considers many conventional school activities inefficient.

His severity toward students is real but frequently misunderstood. Aizawa uses threats and "logical ruses" to create pressure because he believes aspiring heroes must understand the consequences of failure. His history of expelling students is later clarified by the revelation that he can re-enroll them, using the experience of apparent expulsion to make them understand the danger of hero work.

Aizawa is fiercely protective of his students. During real attacks, his detached classroom demeanor disappears and he repeatedly places himself between students and threats far stronger than himself.

Erasure suppresses the Quirk factor of anyone Aizawa can see. It is especially effective against transformation and emitter-type Quirks, although it cannot remove permanent physical features created by mutation-type abilities.

The effect ends when Aizawa blinks, making dry eyes and visual obstruction important weaknesses. His goggles prevent opponents from easily determining whose Quirk he is erasing.

Aizawa compensates for Erasure's lack of direct offensive power with exceptional close-quarters combat. His capture weapon, a long binding cloth, can immobilize opponents, redirect movement, provide mobility, and create openings for strikes.

Aizawa introduces Class 1-A to U.A.'s harsher expectations through the Quirk Apprehension Test. He continues supervising the class through the U.S.J. attack, Sports Festival, internships, training camp, provisional licensing period, and escalating villain conflict.

At the U.S.J., Aizawa engages dozens of villains alone to protect his students until reinforcements arrive. His performance establishes him as a highly capable underground hero despite lacking the overwhelming offensive power of celebrity heroes.

His past with Hizashi Yamada and Oboro Shirakumo becomes important when the heroes investigate Kurogiri. They discover that Kurogiri was created from Shirakumo's corpse, forcing Aizawa to confront what remains of his dead friend inside a Nomu.

During the Paranormal Liberation War, Aizawa's Erasure becomes essential to suppressing Shigaraki's multiple Quirks. After being struck by a Quirk-destroying bullet, he immediately amputates his own leg to prevent the drug from spreading and maintains Erasure long enough for his allies to continue fighting.

Izuku Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugou, Ochaco Uraraka, Tenya Iida, and the rest of Class 1-A are Aizawa's students and the central focus of his work as a teacher.

Hizashi Yamada, better known as Present Mic, is Aizawa's longtime friend and former classmate. Hizashi also gave him the hero name Eraser Head.

Oboro Shirakumo was Aizawa's close school friend whose death profoundly shaped Aizawa's approach to heroism and teaching.

Hitoshi Shinsou becomes Aizawa's personal trainee, learning his capture-weapon techniques while preparing to transfer into the Hero Course.

Eri lives under Aizawa's supervision at U.A., where his Erasure provides an important safeguard against accidental activation of her Rewind Quirk.

Kurogiri is a Nomu created from Oboro Shirakumo's remains, connecting one of the League's most important members directly to Aizawa's past.
