Wan Chanzi

Wan is extraordinarily quiet and speaks so rarely that his guild profile notes an occasion when he went an entire year without speaking for more than an hour in total.

His main hobby is collecting Movie Lacrimas. Most of the money he earns from guild jobs goes toward expanding that collection, showing an unusually focused personal interest compared with Fairy Tail's more visibly boisterous members.

Despite his silence, Wan is not socially isolated. He maintains a close friendship and rivalry with Joey and readily participates in Fairy Tail's guild-wide celebrations, arguments, and battles.

Wan uses Iron Dog, a Transformation Magic that changes his right arm into a metallic dog. The transformed limb can smell, bite, and eat objects, while also increasing the force of Wan's hand-to-hand attacks.

He demonstrates practical close-combat skill during his confrontation with Joey, enhancing a punch through Iron Dog rather than relying exclusively on ranged magic.

The transformation gives Wan a compact combination of sensory capability and physical offense, although the series does not develop a larger named-technique repertoire for him.

Wan is present through many early Fairy Tail events, including reactions to Erza's return, the Phantom Lord attack, and the guild's later celebrations. During the Phantom Lord conflict he remains with the other guild members as Jose Porla's forces attack Fairy Tail.

The Battle of Fairy Tail gives him his clearest individual combat role. Forced into the contest created by Laxus and the Thunder God Tribe, Wan fights Joey and emerges as the winner. He then joins other guild members in destroying one of the Thunder Palace Lacrimas threatening Magnolia.

Wan later welcomes Wendy Marvell and Carla into Fairy Tail before being caught with much of Magnolia in the Edolas incident.

After Fairy Tail is re-established in X792, Wan does not return as a member, and canon provides no explanation for his later activities.

Joey Fullborn is Wan's closest established friend and rival. They joined Fairy Tail around the same time and maintain a competitive relationship that eventually produces a direct fight during the Battle of Fairy Tail.

Wendy Marvell is welcomed into the guild by Wan alongside the other Fairy Tail members.

Carla receives the same guild welcome alongside Wendy.

Erza Scarlet is one of the senior guild members whose activities Wan regularly witnesses.

Jose Porla leads Phantom Lord during the guild war in which Wan participates as part of Fairy Tail's defending membership.
