Viktor Licht

Viktor is driven by curiosity to an extraordinary degree. He wants to understand spontaneous human combustion, Adolla and the mechanisms behind the world's mysteries, and he is willing to place himself in dangerous situations if doing so produces useful evidence.

His cheerful, unconventional behavior makes his intentions difficult to read. Viktor can discuss alarming discoveries with scientific excitement and does not always display the emotional reactions expected by the people around him. That detachment does not mean he lacks concern for Company 8; over time, his actions repeatedly demonstrate that he values the brigade and its members.

Viktor is also pragmatic about secrecy. He understands that organizations such as Haijima Industries possess information inaccessible to ordinary Fire Soldiers and is prepared to maintain complicated connections when they provide a route toward the truth.

Viktor is a non-powered human with no Ignition Ability. His principal strength is his intellect, particularly his knowledge of spontaneous human combustion, physics, chemistry and pyrokinetic research.

He graduated from the Imperial University of Tokyo at the top of his class in an unusually short period before joining Haijima Industries. His research eventually earned him a senior position in incendiary research. This background makes him capable of analyzing unusual Infernals, Adolla-related phenomena and the mechanics behind advanced technology.

Viktor is also an effective field researcher. He collects evidence under combat conditions, develops hypotheses rapidly and communicates technical information to Company 8's fighters. His collaboration with Vulcan Joseph combines theoretical science with exceptional engineering.

Viktor joins Company 8 as its first forensic specialist after Akitaru Ōbi recognizes the need for scientific expertise. His suspicious behavior and prior connection to Haijima immediately make his allegiance difficult for some members to judge.

He becomes instrumental in investigating the Adolla Burst possessed by Shinra Kusakabe, the Pillars and the mechanisms behind spontaneous human combustion. Viktor also maintains contact with Joker, who shares his determination to uncover truths concealed by the empire's institutions.

Viktor initially enters Company 8 while still acting on Haijima's behalf, but his growing loyalty to the brigade complicates that assignment. He increasingly uses his position and Haijima connections to help Company 8 rather than simply observe it.

His research later becomes crucial to understanding the mathematics and physics underlying the Cataclysm, including the significance of Pi and the mechanisms involved in Amaterasu.

Joker is Viktor's clandestine collaborator in the search for the world's hidden truth. Their methods and personalities differ, but both distrust official explanations and exchange information outside institutional channels.

Akitaru Ōbi accepts Viktor into Company 8 despite the scientist's unusual behavior. Viktor comes to respect Ōbi and the brigade he built.

Shinra Kusakabe is both a colleague and an extraordinary research subject because of his Adolla Burst and Adolla Links. Viktor's scientific interest in Shinra develops alongside genuine concern for him.

Vulcan Joseph becomes Viktor's principal technical counterpart within Company 8. Viktor supplies theoretical analysis while Vulcan translates ideas into practical engineering.

Lisa Isaribi, Arthur Boyle, Maki Oze, Takehisa Hinawa and Iris are fellow members of Company 8 whom Viktor supports through research and field analysis.
