Unsui Kongo

Unsui is serious, disciplined and deeply devoted to football. He studies strategy, trains consistently and accepts the responsibilities expected of Shinryuuji's quarterback.

His relationship with talent is complicated by growing up beside Agon. Unsui knows exactly how much work he has invested and exactly how easily his brother can exceed it, leaving him with a painful awareness of his own limitations.

Despite that frustration, Unsui remains more approachable and respected by ordinary teammates than Agon. He leads through preparation and responsibility rather than fear.

Unsui is a well-rounded quarterback with a strong understanding of formations and defensive reads. His 95 kg bench press and 4.9-second 40-yard dash make him physically capable without placing him among the series' extreme specialists.

His greatest strength is football knowledge. Unsui prepares extensively and can coordinate Shinryuuji's sophisticated offense while accounting for the unusual freedom granted to Agon.

He also has enough athletic ability to contribute directly when necessary. What separates him from his brother is not incompetence but the absence of Agon's extraordinary reflexes and instinctive genius.

Unsui appears early as one of the players representing Shinryuuji's overwhelming reputation. He and Agon had already helped reverse a late deficit against Oujou during their first year, establishing the twins as an important part of the Nagas' next generation.

The contrast between the brothers becomes central when Deimon finally faces Shinryuuji. Unsui has sacrificed enormous time to become a strong quarterback, while Agon treats comparable achievement as something requiring almost no effort.

Shinryuuji's loss to Deimon ends its long Kanto dominance. Unsui is left among the players expected to carry the program forward after the graduating seniors depart.

Agon Kongo is Unsui's younger twin brother and the central comparison of his life. Unsui loves and supports Agon Kongo, but also suffers from knowing that his brother's natural ability exceeds what Unsui can reach through ordinary effort.

Ikkyu Hosakawa is one of Unsui's most talented receivers and another important member of Shinryuuji's younger generation.

Gondayuu Yamabushi is one of the senior linemen who protects Unsui and helps anchor Shinryuuji's offense.

Youichi Hiruma becomes Unsui's opposing quarterback when Deimon challenges Shinryuuji.
