Ugaki

Ugaki is calculating when preparing traps but excitable and arrogant once an experiment appears successful. He enjoys watching opponents struggle from a remote position.

His confidence depends on maintaining complete control of the battlefield. When the system supporting Gesell begins failing, Ugaki panics and loses authority over his Doll.

Gesell is an enormous, eyeless Doll manifested through shadow. Small Wächter lights create the shadows it uses, relay images to Ugaki’s glasses and allow the Doll to produce weapons from its limbs.

Ugaki controls attacks with a card deck and patterned mat while remaining hidden. Destroying the light sources destabilizes the shadow network and weakens his control.

Ugaki helps Kariya create Bitto from the energy released by Yoshino’s death. He later prepares the cave system used while the Bounts open their route into Soul Society.

He traps Renji Abarai and a Soul Reaper task force inside Gesell’s shadow battlefield. When the system collapses and Gesell destabilizes, the Doll turns upon Ugaki and crushes him before disappearing with its master.

Jin Kariya is Ugaki’s leader and beneficiary of his planning. Gesell is the Doll he remotely controls until it kills him.

Yoshino Souma’s released energy enables the Bitto project Ugaki helps complete. Renji Abarai destroys the conditions necessary for his control of Gesell.
