Tonis

Tonis is friendly, curious and comfortable approaching Vash. His reaction to the supposed Humanoid Typhoon contrasts sharply with the adults and bounty hunters who see Vash primarily as either a threat or a source of money.

He is still an ordinary child rather than an unusually fearless fighter. The toy gun he carries reflects the weapon-filled society around him without making him an active participant in its violence.

Tonis has no supernatural abilities or established combat skills. His gun is a toy rather than a functioning firearm.

He relies on the adults around him when Inepril's bounty hunt becomes dangerous. His role is firmly that of a civilian caught near events caused by Vash's enormous bounty.

Tonis appears during the Inepril storyline, when the settlement's Plant is malfunctioning and its residents lack the money required for repairs. Vash's arrival creates an opportunity for desperate citizens and professional bounty hunters hoping to collect his $$60 billion reward.

The situation escalates when Professor Nebraska and Gofsef are brought in to capture Vash. Tonis remains among the civilians endangered by the destructive confrontation.

He continues appearing around Inepril as Vash becomes involved with the city's Plant problem and the events leading into the Flourish sand-steamer storyline.

Tonis's Mother is Tonis's mother and lives with him in Inepril City.

Vash the Stampede befriends Tonis during his stay in Inepril.

Sandy is another child living in the Inepril community.
