Nebraska is loud, boastful and confident in the destructive power available to his family. He treats capturing Vash as a realistic prospect despite the gunman's reputation and enthusiastically directs Gofsef during their battle.

His affection for his family is genuine despite his criminal behavior. He speaks proudly of Gofsef and becomes deeply concerned when his son is hurt. Their partnership is therefore both a combat arrangement and a close father-son relationship.

In the manga, Professor Nebraska is heavily modified: his lower body has been replaced by a large gun, and his arms and fingers can extend mechanically to support his unusual body.

The 1998 anime gives him normal legs and instead equips him with an elongated handgun. His extremely small physical appearance allows him to travel in the pocket across Gofsef's chest.

Nebraska relies heavily on Gofsef in combat. Gofsef's enormous size and cybernetic launching fist provide the pair's principal offensive power, while Nebraska directs the attacks.

Nebraska and Gofsef escape from prison before Inepril's authorities employ them as a desperate means of capturing Vash. The city's failing Plant has created a severe financial crisis, making Vash's $$60 billion bounty especially attractive.

The pair attack Vash in Inepril, but his speed and precision repeatedly undermine their confidence in Gofsef's overwhelming strength. Vash defeats both without killing them, and they are returned to custody. Their combined $$700,000 bounty is subsequently given to Inepril and used toward repairing its Plant.

Other members of the Nebraska family later accept Morgan's job against an elderly farming couple because the promised payment could be used to bail Professor Nebraska and Gofsef out of jail.

Gofsef is Nebraska's gigantic son and principal partner. Nebraska travels in a pocket on his chest and directs him during combat.

Patricia Nebraska is Nebraska's wife and the mother of their five children.

Marilyn Nebraska is his daughter, while Tonkichi Nebraska, Chinpei Nebraska and Kanta Nebraska are his other sons.

Vash the Stampede is the bounty target Nebraska and Gofsef attempt to capture.
