Tetsu Iwai

Iwai receives limited individual characterization outside baseball. His decision to remain with the prefab group places him among the players willing to continue under Maeno despite inferior facilities and uncertain prospects.

He functions as a team player rather than a prominent individual star, filling an important defensive position when the prefab roster must be rebuilt.

Iwai plays right field and bats eighth during the rematch against Seishuu's varsity. His role is primarily defensive and supportive within the lineup.

No signature hitting technique or exceptional physical attribute is established for him. His value comes from being capable of filling a regular outfield position when the prefab team needs a complete competitive roster.

Iwai becomes more important after the prefab team's first game against Daimon's varsity. Several third-year players leave the club, forcing Maeno to reorganize the squad for the eventual rematch.

Iwai takes over right field and becomes part of the new starting nine. The rebuilt prefab team defeats Daimon's varsity 2–0, overturning the coach's claim that his hand-picked first string represents Seishuu's only viable route to success.

Iwai remains one of the supporting players associated with this transitional stage before the younger core becomes Seishuu's established varsity.

Sentarou Maeno coaches Iwai on the prefab team and gives him the opportunity to become a starter.

Kou Kitamura, Osamu Akaishi, Daiki Nakanishi, Keiichirou Senda and Wataru Morinaka are among Iwai's teammates during the prefab period.

Shuugo Daimon coaches the opposing first-string team whose control of Seishuu baseball the prefab players challenge.
