Tatewaki

Tatewaki is quiet, observant, and strongly committed to duty. Although he no longer considers himself a proper samurai, he retains the discipline and principles of his training, including a preference for avoiding unnecessary violence.

He develops genuine affection for the children under his protection and values their safety more highly than political obligations.

Tatewaki is an expert swordsman whose ability earns recognition even from powerful opponents. He uses iaidō and chakra-enhanced swordsmanship, allowing him to draw and strike with exceptional speed.

His techniques include Samurai Sabre Technique, Rupture, and chakra shockwave slashes capable of striking beyond the immediate reach of his blade.

Tatewaki discovers Naruto Uzumaki impersonating Shū during a mission to rescue the young lord. After learning Naruto's true purpose, he asks him to protect Chiyo.

Tatewaki later confronts Sasori during the attack on the Land of This and is fatally poisoned. Kabuto subsequently reincarnates him during the Fourth Shinobi World War, where meeting Naruto again allows him to learn that Shū and Chiyo survived and grew up safely.

Shū is one of the children Tatewaki guards and trains in swordsmanship. Chiyo is the daimyō's daughter whom he also deeply wants to protect. Naruto Uzumaki earns his trust after explaining the rescue mission. Sasori becomes Tatewaki's opponent during the destruction of the Land of This.
