Shu

Shu is loyal, enthusiastic, somewhat dim-witted, and easily intimidated by Pilaf's temper. He approaches assignments seriously but frequently makes mistakes that undermine otherwise successful missions.

Despite their failures, Shu and Mai work together smoothly. The Dragon Ball Official Site specifically notes how closely synchronized the two can be, including matching reactions when unexpected events occur.

Shu rarely questions Pilaf's plans, even after repeated humiliations and years of failing to achieve world domination.

Shu is trained as a ninja and carries a katana. He has basic infiltration ability, weapons skill, and familiarity with stealth equipment, although his competence is largely presented through comedy rather than serious martial prowess.

He is also capable of piloting Pilaf Machines, aircraft, and other vehicles used by the gang. Shu and Mai frequently perform reconnaissance and theft operations while Pilaf remains at headquarters.

Shu has no established ki techniques and is physically outclassed by Goku even during the earliest stages of the series.

Shu first becomes directly involved when he and Mai locate Goku and Bulma's group while searching for the Dragon Balls.

Piloting a Pilaf Machine, Shu attacks the travelers, destroys their Hovercar, and steals most of their Dragon Balls. However, he fails to notice that Goku is still carrying the Four-Star Ball, earning criticism from Pilaf.

The trio eventually captures all seven Dragon Balls and summons Shen Long, but Oolong steals the wish before Pilaf can ask for world domination.

Pilaf then imprisons Goku and the others. When Goku transforms into a Great Ape under the full moon, he destroys Pilaf's castle and forces Shu, Mai, and Pilaf to flee.

Shu remains with Pilaf throughout later attempts to obtain the Dragon Balls and helps him locate and release Piccolo Daimaou. In Dragon Ball Super, the Pilaf Gang appears in childlike bodies after an earlier Dragon Ball wish and eventually becomes associated with Capsule Corporation.

Pilaf is Shu's master and the person whose world-conquest schemes he loyally serves despite their near-constant failure.

Mai is Shu's closest partner within the Pilaf Gang. They regularly perform missions together and are portrayed as an effective team despite their comedic incompetence.

Goku repeatedly disrupts Shu's missions and eventually becomes a longstanding obstacle to Pilaf's ambitions. Oolong directly ruins the gang's first successful summoning of Shen Long by making a wish before Pilaf can speak.
