Tatanka

Tatanka is proud of his ability and shares Team USA's broad confidence that American football belongs at a higher level than the sport played by other nations. He initially looks down on Japan rather than treating its players as equal competitors.

He also attempts to imitate Don's habit of studying languages, reflecting the influence the American leader has on the other Pentagram players.

Tatanka's greatest weapon is the enormous defensive radius created by his 210 cm frame. Long arms and elite mobility allow him to reach passing lanes that would normally be safe from a linebacker, creating the "Human Dome" around him.

His speed is almost as remarkable as his height. Despite weighing 127 kg, he can move at a level comparable with much smaller elite athletes, allowing him to cover ground instead of functioning only as a stationary obstacle.

Tatanka also possesses the strength expected from an American Pentagram player. The combination makes him capable of contesting passes, stopping runners and threatening receivers over a very large area.

Tatanka enters with Team USA during the Youth World Cup and helps establish why the Americans are overwhelming favorites. His physical specifications alone exceed what most Japanese players have previously encountered at linebacker.

His Human Dome presents Japan with a passing problem: ordinary trajectories can be swallowed by his reach even when the intended receiver would otherwise be open.

Tatanka intercepts Kid's passing lane during the final, but Takami and Sakuraba's Twin Tower Arrow exploits a trajectory and receiving height capable of breaching the Human Dome.

Donald Oberman is Team USA's dominant lineman and a player Tatanka respects enough to imitate outside football.
