Personality
Personality
Tamaki is dedicated to the Sazanami Clan and its traditions, but she behaves more casually than her brothers. While the Tou stand guard with rigid seriousness, she is comfortable sitting informally and openly asking questions when she does not immediately understand the reasoning behind an assignment.
That relaxed attitude disappears when combat begins. Tamaki understands the responsibilities attached to membership in the Tou and becomes serious when enemies threaten the clan head or the Rakuzaichi.
Like her siblings, she has been raised in a family culture that treats preserving the auction as an inherited obligation. After seeing how far Kyora is prepared to sacrifice his own children for that obligation, members of the Tou are forced to confront what their loyalty has actually been protecting.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Tamaki is one of the four members of the Tou, a position reserved for the Sazanami Clan's strongest combatants. She can reinforce herself with spirit energy and possesses considerably greater combat ability than ordinary members of the family.
Her sorcery is Isou, the Sazanami Clan's signature technique. Isou converts spirit energy into powerful shockwaves that can be fired offensively, used to defend against attacks, or incorporated into movement. The technique's effectiveness varies with the strength and control of its user.
Tamaki coordinates Isou with the other Tou rather than fighting exclusively as an individual. Their combined pressure is sufficient to engage Chihiro Rokuhira and Togo Shiba, two exceptionally dangerous opponents.
Story Role
Story Role
Tamaki is introduced alongside Soya Sazanami, Tenri Sazanami, and Enji Sazanami as one of the Tou. The group exists to execute the clan head's will and defend him from threats to the Rakuzaichi.
When Chihiro and Shiba infiltrate the Sazanami estate, Tamaki joins the Tou members defending Kyora. Their coordinated Isou attacks create one of the principal obstacles preventing the intruders from simply reaching the clan head and ending the auction before it begins.
The Tou later guard the Rakuzaichi itself as Chihiro's group launches its attempt to destroy the auction and rescue its captives. The operation ultimately exposes how completely Kyora prioritizes preserving the Rakuzaichi over the lives of his own children, destabilizing the values on which the Tou's loyalty was built.
Relationships
Relationships
Kyora Sazanami is Tamaki's father, clan head, and the person the Tou are specifically charged with protecting. Tamaki follows his orders as part of her responsibility to the family.
Enji Sazanami is Tamaki's older brother and fellow member of the Tou. They fight together in defense of the Rakuzaichi.
Soya Sazanami is Tamaki's older brother and another member of the Tou, although his obsession with Hakuri Sazanami frequently distracts him from his responsibilities.
Hakuri Sazanami is Tamaki's younger brother. His rejection of the Rakuzaichi eventually places him in direct opposition to the family institution Tamaki has been trained to defend.
Tenri Sazanami is Tamaki's younger brother and fellow Tou member. His intense desire to earn their father's approval makes him particularly devoted to the family's mission.
Chihiro Rokuhira and Togo Shiba become Tamaki's opponents when they infiltrate the Sazanami estate and attempt to dismantle the Rakuzaichi.
