Taka

Taka is proud, independent and strongly motivated by martial confidence. Although associated with a school full of delinquents, he does not simply behave as another gang member.

He possesses a strong sense of obligation. Yoshii once helped him during a confrontation, and Taka takes that debt seriously enough to accept a dangerous request from him.

Taka also respects strength. Fighting is partly a means of proving that his "sword" remains effective beyond regulated kendo competition.

Taka is an accomplished kendo practitioner and uses a wooden sword in street combat. The weapon gives him a major advantage in reach and allows properly delivered strikes to cause serious injury.

His skill is not reducible to simply carrying a weapon. Kendo training gives him timing, distance management, footwork and the ability to deliver precise blows before an unarmed opponent can enter punching range.

Fighting him therefore requires solving a problem fundamentally different from facing a boxer, wrestler or karateka. Closing distance without absorbing a disabling strike becomes the central challenge.

Taka enters the conflict through Yoshii's campaign against Masaki. His ability makes him one of the few fighters Yoshii can plausibly use against the Charisma of the Streets.

The confrontation is complicated by Yoshii's preparations to place Masaki at a disadvantage. Yuu becomes involved rather than allowing his mentor to face the situation alone.

Yuu ultimately fights Taka directly and narrowly defeats him. The encounter demonstrates how dangerous a trained weapon user can be even against an increasingly accomplished unarmed street fighter.

Yoshii is someone Taka feels indebted to, and that obligation leads him to accept Yoshii's request to confront Masaki.

Masaki Izawa is Taka's original target and a fighter whose reputation makes the challenge worthwhile to him.

Yuu Kamishiro intervenes in the conflict and ultimately becomes the opponent who defeats Taka.
