Sumiko Yamada

Sumiko receives limited individual characterization, but her behavior distinguishes her from the most sadistic Osaka players. She is primarily shown through her friendship with Miho and her efforts to survive the catastrophic mission.

She cooperates with the remaining hunters rather than treating the battle purely as a competition for points.

Sumiko is a Gantz hunter familiar with the standard suit and equipment used by the Osaka team.

The manga does not establish a signature weapon, named technique or exceptional fighting specialty for her.

Her ability to remain functional during the Nurarihyon mission nevertheless places her among a small number of Osaka participants able to endure a hunt that overwhelms far more celebrated veterans.

Sumiko participates in the Nurarihyon mission as part of the Osaka team. As veteran hunters are eliminated, she remains with Miho and the shrinking group of survivors.

After the mission is completed, Sumiko survives to reach the scoring room. She chooses the option to leave Gantz and have her memories erased rather than continue participating in future hunts.

Miho Nakayama is Sumiko's close friend and principal established relationship within the Osaka team. The two remain together through much of the Nurarihyon mission.

Kazuo Kuwabara is another Osaka veteran who reaches the later stages of the mission alongside Sumiko and Miho.

Masaru Katou becomes central to the surviving hunters' effort to defeat the mission's strongest target.
